SELECTION CRITERIA 2024/2025

SA SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • An athlete will have to have participated in, at least, one of the two meetings, in the correct distance (e.g. Age-groupers must compete in the Sprint-distance.)
  • An athlete will to have a finishing time in at least I (One) of the ETF League events which falls within the time determined by the Selection Committee for the athlete’s age group, and as listed below.

SA TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • A team will be selected to compete at the SA Triathlon Championships, after the third league meeting of the season. This will also be the Eden Championships.
  • An athlete will have to have participated in, at least, two of the three meetings. Again, athletes must compete in the correct distances. It no Standard distance is allocated for an event, an athlete will have to have competed in, at least, the Sprint distance. If a Standard Distance is allocated, an athlete will have to have competed in the Standard Distance.
  • An athlete will to have a finishing time in at least I (One) of the ETF League events which falls within the time determined by the Selection Committee for the athlete’s age group, and as listed below.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Important for junior athletes (12 -18 years): to be eligible for a team to participate in any SA Championships, it is required and mandatory to assist with at least 1 (one) event with the set up and braking down of equipment and other related work at any of the EFT events.
  • All medical certificates (within 2 days after the race day) / formal excuses for a specific meeting (before or on the race day), must be handed in, in writing, in accordance with the terms stipulated in the Rules and Regulations. This can also be mailed to Corné Hattingh. No late excuses will be accepted.
  • The selection committee will have the final say in the composition of the team. Any grievances / queries must be done, in writing, via the Club Chairman.

The Rules and Regulations remain in effect at all times in the selection of an athlete to compete at any SA Championships

SA DUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS:

  • A team will be selected to compete at the SA Duathlon Champs, after the third league meeting.
  • An athlete will have to compete in, at least, two of the three meetings. Again, athletes must compete in the correct distances. If no Standard distance is allocated for an event, an athlete will have to compete in, at least the Sprint Distance. If a Standard Distance is allocated, an athlete will have to compete in the Standard Distance.
  •  An athlete will have to have a finishing time in at least 1 (One) of the ETF League events which falls within the time as determined by the Selection Committee for the athlete’s age group, and as listed below.
  • No Middle or Lond distance is allocated for in ETF events. An athlete that has a finishing time in at least 1 (One) Standard Distance of the ETF League events which falls within the time as determined by the Selection Committee for the athlete’s age group, and as listed below, may then qualify to participate in the Middle or Long Distance if it included in the SA Duathlon Championships.

  • On the condition that Triathlon SA makes provision for such an event, a team will be selected to compete at the SA Aqua Bike Champs, after the third league meeting.
  • An athlete will have to compete in, at least, two of the three meetings. Provision will only be made for athletes to participate in the Standard Distance, as required by Triathlon SA. If no Standard distance is allocated for an event, an athlete will have to compete in, at least the Sprint Distance. If a Standard Distance is allocated, an athlete will have to compete in the Standard Distance.
  •  An athlete will have to have a finishing time in at least 1 (One) of the ETF League events which falls within the time as determined by the Selection Committee for the athlete’s age group.
